A low-dose prescription of antidepressants could help alleviate back-related disability, a new study has found.
[HEALTH NEWS] The trial, conducted by Monash University, found that participants on low-dose antidepressants had less back-related disability after 3 months, and less pain after 6 months of usage, compared to participants on the placebo treatment.
Lead author Dr Donna Urquhart said:
“Recent studies have shown that medications such as paracetamol, anti-inflammatories and narcotics don’t work for chronic low back pain, leaving physicians looking for alternatives.”
