FILEX is delighted to announce the appointment of Anthony Reed to the role of General Manager, marking a bright new era for the organisation.

Bringing with him over two decades of management experience from the world’s largest event organisers, both in Australia and overseas, Reed has been tasked with delivering post-pandemic growth and a long term brand vision for FILEX, Australasia’s leading fitness events. This includes creating new opportunities for existing partners, creating brand new mutually beneficial partnerships and utilising his extensive knowledge in expos to grow that part of the FILEX business.

The appointment reaffirms FILEX’s commitment to the fitness industry, which has suffered greatly from the effects of the coronavirus. FILEX Chairman, Andrew Simmons, said:

“Anthony Reed comes to us with a track record of excellent strategic execution and there is no better person to accelerate the growth of our organisation as our industry recovers.”

Simmons continued:

“FILEX stands shoulder to shoulder with our friends and colleagues as we rebound and this appointment should signal our belief that Australia’s fitness industry is ready to dust itself off. We are confident that under Anthony’s stewardship we will not only reach but surpass our pre-COVID levels. The board of directors joins me in wishing him all the very best in his new role and in taking FILEX to the next level.”

Reed is no stranger to high growth events. During his time with Reed Exhibitions, he was responsible for the emergence of All-Energy Australia as the southern hemisphere’s largest and most prestigious energy event, and Reed sees similarities in the opportunities in front of FILEX.

Reed said:

“When I took over All-Energy, the sector was still in its infancy and we learned as we went. FILEX stands in a more mature industry but given the monumental upheaval through which the fitness sector has just been, it’s important we open ourselves up to relearning; What are the fresh challenges facing our partners? How do we best serve our customers in a post-pandemic marketplace? How can we evolve our products to continue to provide unique value? These are the key questions the team and I will be answering over the coming weeks and months. I couldn’t be more excited to take on this role and to work closely with brilliant partners like Fitness Australia; together we have the opportunity to build a fitness industry that is more robust and more innovative than ever before. And it’s my job to make sure FILEX remains at its very heart.”

Reed begins his tenure with the upcoming FILEX Virtual Summit, a brand new two-day online event with never-before-seen speakers and the hottest content to ensure the industry is ‘Stronger Together’. FILEX will then return to live face-to-face events later in the year with its Leadership Summit, Business Summit and Trainer Summit.

The Virtual Summit runs from Friday 30 April to Saturday 1 May and tickets are still available at filex.com.au.
