Finalists of Fitness Australia’s 2020 Australian Fitness Awards Community Exercise Program sponsored by OneMusic Australia are due to celebrate their achievements at local events in the coming weeks.

Nominations for the Community Exercise Program category were open to any individual or business offering a physical activity, program or event to people where exercise is difficult to access, and is at low or no-cost to the wider community.

Barrie Elvish, CEO of peak industry association Fitness Australia said:

“Love to Live program, Men’s Shed Fitness and Flexibility program at Akoonah Park and YMCA NSW Uplift program have all demonstrated outstanding community reach with a positive impact on the health of participants.”

“We’re going on tour to congratulate the providers of these nationally recognised programs, and visit the communities that are reaping the health benefits.”

Catherine Giuliano of OneMusic Australia, inaugural sponsor of the Community Exercise Program award, said:

“We know that there is a strong connection between music, exercise and wellness. That sense of community, of delivering uplifting and memorable experiences to the audience is what our music creators do every day of the week. These finalists do what they do to make people happier and so do our Australian musician member, so it’s a perfect synergy”.

The 2020 Awards program aims to recognise and celebrate the life-changing work of having more people, more active, more often.

National winners will be announced at the 2020 Australian Fitness Awards Gala Dinner in Sydney on Friday 1st May 2020, with tickets now available.
