Following the easing of Coronavirus restrictions, Fitness First has announced that all of clubs across NSW will officially reopen their doors to members this weekend.

Having been closed since 23r March, all of the group’s gyms will reopen from Saturday 13th June, adhere to strict social distancing and hygiene guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all members and staff.

Having reopened clubs in the ACT and Queensland, Fitness First gyms has highlighted that each club will be adding even more safety measures and extensive cleaning protocols which include hygiene stations placed nearby high-touch areas offering hand sanitiser, medical-grade disinfectant for use and sanitising gym wipes; increased cleaning specifications; additional training for staff,  the closure of non-essential areas and enforcing a strict ‘no towel, no train’ policy.

Advising that all clubs will also have varied capacity restrictions, so members and staff are able to maintain a safe distance at all times including on the gym floor and during group exercises classes.

David Aitchison, General Manager of Fitness First Australia, stated:

“We have been extremely busy preparing for our members to return and gyms to open their doors. We are conscious that in keeping our clubs safe and healthy for everyone, returning to the gym will feel a little different.”

“In following the advice and guidelines of health authorities, there will be changes to process, capacity and non-essential areas at each club.”

“We value our members’ loyalty, especially during what is a challenging time for all Australian businesses. So, we’ll be giving members 50% off their fees through this transitional period. Members will also have the option to extend their complimentary freeze if they do not wish to return to the gym just yet.”

Fitness First National Head of Fitness, Michael Cunico added:

During the Coronavirus lockdown Fitness First kicked encouraged home-based exercise – #GotaHomeGotaGym – and opened their online portal of at-home workouts and wellness content for all Australians.

While Fitness First clubs will be re-opening for members eager to get back into the gym, the brand will also support those who want to continue their at-home work out journey by continuing to host free workouts, share nutritional guidance, recipes and wellness resources via the Fitness First at Home community.
