Industry innovator Mel Tempest dives deep in this conversation with Eugene Downing.

In 2003 Mel opened Ballarat Body & Soul Health Club with zero members. In 2017 she can say she now owns not only her building but a larger venue and everything inside!

Her down-to-the-bones passion for the fitness industry has seen her travel and present group fitness in many different countries. She has written for magazines and helped many club owners to run successful clubs that gets more feet in the door.

Mel opened Australia’s first ever men’s health club, breaking down the barrier for men to have their own dedicated training space. She has appeared on national television and presented at business conventions.

Mel is a consistently an early adopter to technology and has a global reputation for often being the first amongst her peers to try something new and innovative. She loves to live outside the square, create ideas and concepts and loves social media.Mel is the first fitness provider in Ballarat (Victoria) to launch virtual fitness classes in her facility, and impressively, over 85% of her club sales come from Facebook.
