As part of a continually expanding portfolio, Belgravia Health and Fitness is pleased to announce that Genesis Health and Fitness will today open its twelfth club in Queensland – with a new site in Gympie, 160km north of Brisbane.

Previously the club was in operation as Anytime Fitness and has now been acquired and re-branded as Genesis Health and Fitness by new franchisee Peter McLeay.

Peter is no stranger to business. Starting off as a Logistics Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, Peter now owns a chain of eight backpacker sites in Cairns and Sydney, which he started himself. In addition, he’s part-owner of a craft brewery in Cairns.

The club has undergone an initial internal facelift, freshening up the space, in-line with Genesis Health and Fitness’ branding. Equipment will also be updated on an on-going basis.

With Gympie being a regional town, the core focus is to build a friendly, community-based environment for members, aiming to make each visit an enjoyable experience.

Peter said:

“In my own fitness journey, I find it easiest to get to the gym or sport if I’m doing it with a friend or going for the social environment. I’m looking forward to my staff being a friendly face and providing some social interaction with members rather than just being a 24/7 gym.

“Genesis Health and Fitness provides strong support with an experienced staff structure. I like the franchise model where both franchisee and franchisor are rewarded. It encourages an ongoing relationship between parties.”

Belgravia Health and Fitness CEO Ian Jensen Muir said:

“We constantly aim to deliver the best member experience at every interaction. We’re excited to have our new franchisee, Peter, and his team on board as they focus on helping to create an active, healthy community in Gympie.”
