One-on-one fitness training is still safe as announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

One-on-one fitness training is still safe as announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison in the latest social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The latest announcement means outdoor boot camps and personal training sessions are limited to one-on-one only, with strict social distancing rules still in place.

Fitness Australia’s earlier announcement regarding digital workouts being filmed has never been more relevant to ensure people can continue to access professional guidance to safely workout at home.

With safety as their number one priority, Fitness Australia continues to follow the directives and guidelines set out by the state and federal governments and the Chief Medical Officer.

Fitness Australia advises that it is important for all members who are delivering small group training, outdoor personal training or creating digital workout content indoors to abide by the latest announcement and reduce it to a maximum two people only – this means trainer plus one participant or trainer and cameraperson only depending on the situation, while continuing to ensure a two metre distance between all people. Strict health and hygiene practices must also be followed.

Prime Minister Morrison made the announcement alongside Chief Medical Officer Professor Brendan Murphy who has advised Australians should stay home unless there is need to exercise, or go to work, if it is not possible to work from home.

In the announcement, Prime Minister Morrison noted “people are buying sports gear so they can exercise at home”, which was an encouraging sign that people are continuing to exercise for their overall health and mental wellbeing.

Fitness Australia note that for indoor filming of digital content, it is prudent you check your insurance to ensure you are covered for any incidents that may occur while your business is closed by law.

The Fitness Australia one-page guidelines on delivering outdoor training has now been updated in line with the latest government directives. It is now available to all members via the Fitness Australia website.

This information is in addition to Fitness Australia’s Outdoor Training Guidelines, which have been updated to include all COVID-19 restrictions and information, including group sizes.
